Michael Benedict O'Grady

Michael Benedict O’Grady, (76) surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on 14th October 2024 in Montélimar, Drôme region France where he resided. Michael had a great love of life, adventure and family, and spent much of his youth around horses travelling far and wide, and absorbing current affairs. His passions included Horseracing, Rugby, the Tour de France, a fine beverage and a big cigar. Ever charming Michael had a sharp wit, a keen memory and a great fondness for the written word. Although settling in France to raise his own family, Michael never relinquished his Irish spirit.

Beloved son of Patrick and Bridget O’Grady, Fermoy, Co. Cork. He is survived by Harriet, his son Rory, daughter Kitty, son-in-law Philippe and their children Timothée and Amaury. Mike will be sadly missed by his brother John, sisters, Catherine, Anne, Mary and Olive, their families, and many friends in France and Fermoy.

May he rest in comfort and heavenly peace, joining his younger brother Vincent, his parents, and his nephew Vincent.

A mass will take place at 1200 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Fermoy on Sunday, 27th of October, followed by an interment of his ashes in the family grave at Kilcrumper, Fermoy.
