 Alan (Hefty) Buckley

Carrigaline, Cork

The family of the late Alan Buckley of Herons Wood, Carrigaline, Co. Cork  - wife and best friend Aoife, adored children Rory and Síofra, parents Denis and Bernie, brother Mark and the extended Buckley and Horgan families would like to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us on Alan’s sad passing on 30th September 2023.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many family members, friends and neighbours who visited our home to comfort us, attended the Funeral service and burial and who provided emotional and practical support to us at this difficult time.

For those who telephoned, travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, cards and messages of condolences on RIP.ie, as well as those who made charitable donations, we are truly grateful.

To all those who participated in the Mass, especially the beautiful choirs from Christian Brothers College Preparatory and Secondary Schools and Scoil Mhuire Junior School, the late Father Criostóir, St Joseph’s Altar Society, O'Connor’s Funeral Directors, Sinead Martin and Edelle Sheridan for their assistance in arranging the funeral, your help and support made our loss more bearable.

To the boys, coaches and parents of Dolphin RFC for forming a guard of honour at the removal, our deepest appreciation and thanks.

For Alan’s friends and colleagues in Macom in Cork, the United States and beyond, we offer a special word of thanks for the support you have offered us before, during and after Alan’s illness. Your friendship has been immeasurable.

We thank all the teams on GB Oncology Unit CUH for their gentle care of Alan. In his final days we cared for Alan at home in Carrigaline enabled by the support of the Irish Cancer Society, community health care teams, and the Marymount hospice team. We are most grateful to you all.

To our friends and team mates in KYC Optimist Fleet, your support and friendship has been truly appreciated since Alan’s passing.
