Brigid Carey (nee Hanly)

Cummermore, Kilcommon, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Who died peacefully in University Hospital Limerick

 on 26th January 2021 R.I.P.

Brigid’s family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who supported us during this sad and difficult time. We took great comfort from all who sympathised with us by letters, cards, calls, texts, emails and the many kind condolences on the R.I.P. website.

The presence of relations, great neighbours and dear friends outside their homes and on the roadside bore testimony to our mother’s great love for home and community. This camaraderie was appreciated and will be fondly remembered by the family as we travelled with Mam on her final journey. We also thank the Sean Treacy GAA club who formed a guard of honour at her arrival at St. Patrick's Church, Kilcommon.

Thanks to John and Tadgh McCormack, Funeral Directors, for your professional guidance and kindness which helped us immensely. We were particularly grateful to their organisation of the streaming of the funeral Mass which made it accessible to many people at home and abroad. Sincere appreciation to Rev. Fr. Dan Woods, P.P. and to Fr. Pat O’Gorman who celebrated the funeral Mass. Thanks to the O’Connell sisters for your beautiful music and singing and Pauline Keane, Sacristan, who prepared the church for the Mass. Also, thanks to the grave diggers for preparing our mother’s final resting place.

We offer sincere recognition and gratitude to our mother’s carers, who supported her in staying in her own home for the past number of years. Your exceptional care, kindness and humour were much appreciated. We wish to thank Dr. James Moloney G.P., Nurse Eileen Brennan and Ms. Elizabeth Scully for your exceptional medical care and thoughtfulness to Mam for so many years. Thanks also to Michael and the team in Lloyds Pharmacy, Thurles, for your kind assistance always. We will forever remember and be so grateful to the paramedics, ambulance crew, doctors and nurses in University Hospital Limerick for their kindness and care to our mother on the day she died.

To all who helped in any way, your contribution made her sad loss more bearable. Please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest appreciation and gratitude and as it is impossible to thank everyone individually the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Our mother, Brigid Carey will be remembered at Mass on Saturday, April 3rd at 8.00pm from St. Patrick’s Church, Kilcommon, available on the following link:  https://www.twitch.tv/kilcommonparish
