 Cathy Conneally
(née Mitchell)

Ballyhard, Glenamaddy, Galway

We, the family of the late Cathy Conneally, her husband Nicholas, her sons Aidan, Kieran, Nicholas James, daughter Nicola, and the extended family wish to acknowledge our heartfelt sincere gratitude and appreciation to all who supported and sympathized with us on our recent sad loss.

We are so grateful for the kind sincere messages of sympathy received through sympathy cards, Mass cards, texts, phone calls, condolences on RIP.ie, Mid West Radio condolences, Galway Bay FM condolences, and social media. We are touched by your kind words, shared memories, and the outpouring of love for Cathy. A sincere thank you to all who donated to the Galway Hospice and Cancer Care West in Cathy’s memory, it meant so much to us all.

Thank you to all who travelled long distances, those who came to our home, funeral Mass, burial and joined us on webcam or local radio, especially our friends and family.

We owe a special debt of gratitude to all the medical professionals who took such good care of Cathy throughout her illness, Dr. Martin Daly and his team, Professor Donnellan and the oncology team at the Galway Clinic, the wonderful staff at the Galway Hospice, her amazing carers, Public Health Nurses and Molloy’s Pharmacy.

Sincere thanks to our wonderful relatives, neighbours, and friends for all they done for us in preparation for the funeral, including those who brought food and refreshments to our home.

In our sadness, we were warmed and strengthened by the solidarity and dignity shown by those who lined the roads, lit candles, and put out altars as Cathy made her final journey to her Ballyhard home, Glenamaddy church, and Glenamaddy cemetery. A huge thank you to all who coordinated traffic and assisted people at our home and the church.

A sincere thank you to Fr. Eugene Boyle for his incredibly beautiful and moving ceremony, which we will never forget. Thank you to Fr. Paddy Mooney, Fr. James Heneghan, and Fr. Fergal Cunnane for concelebrating mass and for all their support throughout the years.  A special appreciation to Don Stiff for his beautiful music in the church and to Cathy’s niece Mikahela Fitzpatrick for the breathtaking music in the graveside, which will be long remembered.

Our special thanks to Shane Mannion, the undertaker for his upmost respect, kindness, and for helping us with every detail. A true gentleman and family friend.  Our profound thanks to the loyal gravediggers for their work and assistance in preparing Cathy's final resting place with such care and dignity.

We are very grateful to Aidan Maloney at Delicious Catering and his staff for their quality food and kind hospitality following the funeral.

A special thank you to Cathy’s wonderful neighbours, friends, and relatives who kept in touch with her and who did so much for Cathy and us, her immediate family throughout her illness.  We appreciate your continued support and friendship during this devastating time.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our sincere appreciation. We are truly grateful to live in such a warm-hearted community and be surrounded by such wonderful people.

Month’s Mind Mass for Cathy Conneally will be held on Saturday, 19th February 2022, at 7:00 pm in St. Patrick's Church, Glenamaddy.
