 George Byrne

Arklow, Wicklow

George’s wife Oonagh, son Alan, daughters Oonagh and Ceri and all his family wish to express our heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support and kindness shown to us throughout our recent sad loss and for the huge outpouring of love and respect shown for our beloved George.

Thank you to everyone who visited the Funeral Home, attended George's Removal, Funeral Mass and burial, sent Mass cards, letters, texts & floral tributes, those who shared happy memories and warm messages online, those who travelled long distances to offer comfort and support and those who couldn’t be present, but joined us in the celebration of George’s life via webcam and those who donated generously to Wicklow Hospice in George’s memory;

Our most sincere thanks to wonderful caring staff of Blackrock Hospital and Wicklow Hospice for the comfort and dignity they brought to George’s final weeks. Thanks also to Dr. Tony Bentley and his team at Bradshaw’s Lane Surgery. Thank you to our extended families, our colleagues and our wonderful friends and neighbours for their continued kindness and support, especially John Fitzgerald and Brendan Gilroy who were so generous with their time and support throughout the recent weeks.

Special thanks to Fr. Dermot Byrne and Fr. Michael Murphy for their prayers, comforting guidance and beautiful funeral Mass and to Bridget Kenny and our dear friend Geraldine Delaney for such fabulous music. A huge thank you to Peter Eades, Brian O’Reilly and Terence Taylor for their fabulous musical tribute of “Take him Home”, George would have been delighted!

Thank you to the management and staff of the Arklow Bay Hotel for their hospitality, Tommy and Tom of RSS for tending to the grave and especially to Niamh, Ned and all at John Sweeney & Sons Funeral Directors for their kindness and professionalism.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation. We also remember George’s wonderful brother Reg (Connecticut, U.S.A) who passed away a short time after George and trust they are reunited together. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all.

George’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 1st September at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church, Barraniskey.
