  First Anniversary and Acknowledgement

In loving memory of Gerard O’Brien whose first anniversary occurs on 21st January 2022.

As we lovingly remember Gerard, a wonderful dad, grandad and great friend, on the first anniversary of his passing, his daughter Eva and sons Lorcan, Gearoid and Brian together with their families wish to extend warmest thanks for the many kind expressions of condolences and support which they received. To those who sympathised and supported us over the past year, to all who sent Mass cards, online condolences, letters of sympathy and to those who telephoned us we say thank you. Your words brought us much comfort when we were unable to meet in person.

Our thanks to our extended family, friends and neighbours in Clongour who lined the road to the church and to the graveyard. Your show of support will always be remembered.

Special thanks to Fr Jim Purcell for his dedication, music and prayers at Dad’s funeral Mass and to sacristan Meg for her assistance on the day. Thank you to Hugh Ryan Undertakers for their support and guidance and to the gravediggers who prepared Dad’s final resting place.

We were very proud to have Gerard as our dad and grandad. His life’s work and purpose were for his beloved wife Margaret and his family. He lived a full and fulfilled life in accordance with his Christian faith and values.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere appreciation and gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.

Gerard’s first anniversary mass will be celebrated (and streamed via the Parish webcam) at 11am on Sunday 23rd January at The Cathedral of The Assumption,Thurles ,Co Tipperary.

Reunited for eternity with his beloved wife, Margaret.

"When first I saw the love light in your eyes

I dreamed the world held naught but joy for me.”
