 John Coleman

Ballincollig, Cork / Glantane, Cork

The family of the late John Coleman, whose first anniversary occurs on 14th May 2021, would like to express our sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with us at the time of our very sad loss.

For those who called to the house, phoned or sent messages of condolences, left beautiful online tributes or sent flowers, Mass cards, sympathy cards and letters, we are truly grateful for everyone’s sympathy and support and for the many kind words expressed about our beloved John.

We were devastated that so few of us could gather in person to celebrate John's life.  We know that many more of you would have liked to attend John’s funeral, however, due to restrictions this was not possible.  While you could not be with us at the time, we know that you were with us in spirit and in prayer.

Thank you to those who still showed up to visit the funeral home, those who came out to pay their respects en route from the church to the cemetery and those who attended at the cemetery, at a safe distance, your presence brought much comfort to us and was appreciated.

Thank you to the members of Lakewood Pitch & Putt Club, John A. Wood Ltd. Sports & Social Club and his colleagues from John A. Wood Ltd. who formed a guard of honour outside the church. It's heartwarming to know that he is so fondly remembered by his work colleagues and his Pitch & Putt family.

Thanks to Michael and Patricia Crowley, Crowleys Funeral Directors, for their sensitive and professional handling of arrangements during Covid restrictions.  Sincere thanks to Fr. Cian who officiated at John’s Mass and burial and thanks to Geraldine, the Sacristan.

Thank you to all the healthcare professionals who took great care of John during his illness, including Dr. Derek Power and his team in the CUH and the doctors and nurses in the Dunmanway Day Unit.  Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Marymount for their kindness and great care they showed to John.  Thanks to the doctors of The Grove Medical Centre for their wonderful care, especially Dr. Suzanne and Dr. Ciara for their housecalls during a very difficult time.

Thank you to Shane and the staff in the Allcare Pharmacy who were always so kind and helpful.

Special thanks to Mary Buckley for always being so accommodating to help with lifts to the hospital, even at short notice.  We will always be so grateful to you.

Thank you to Sheila Collins for being a great friend to the family over many years, for helping with hospital appointments during John’s illness and for just being there.

Thanks also to John’s friend, Sister Bernadette, for her great friendship and spiritual support, especially during his illness.

To those who helped in any way, your contribution made our loss more bearable. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions on Saturday 15th May at Church of St. Mary and St. John, Ballincollig.

John’s Anniversary Mass at Church of St. Mary and St. John, Ballincollig will be streamed on Friday 14th May at 09.30am and on Sunday 16th May at 10am on https://www.churchservices.tv/stmjballincollig.
