Acknowledgement and First Anniversary
In loving memory of John O'Donnell who went to heaven on December the 20th 2023. We greatly miss and remember John - loving husband, Dad, Granddad and Father-in-Law, on his first anniversary. We, his family, wish to express our deep gratitude to all those who have supported and sympathised with us on our sad loss. A heartfelt thanks to close and extended family, the many friends, neighbours and well-wishers who attended ceremonies, and provided emotional and practical support to us all. For those who telephoned, travelled long distances, those who couldn’t travel but joined us online, sent mass cards, floral tributes and messages of condolences, Nollaig and the family are truly grateful.
We particularly remember, and deeply appreciate, the wonderful care given to John by the staff and community of Abbeylands Nursing Home, Kildorrery. We also thank GP Dr. Gareth Linehan for his kind and dedicated professional care throughout John's time at Abbeylands.
We also thank Fr. Chris O'Donnell and Fr. Michael O’Shea for their attendance at the nursing home, and Fr Chris for prayers at John’s home on the funeral morning, prayers at the removal and for his beautiful celebration of John’s Funeral Mass. We especially thank him for his thoughtful eulogy for John, and for his support and kindness through our difficult time. Our sincere gratitude also to Michael Daffy, and his gravediggers, of Daffy's Funeral Directors, Kilmallock, for their courtesy and professionalism throughout. Our appreciation and thanks to all those who participated in the Funeral Mass, especially those who brought up gifts, and read prayers and poems. We would also like to thank the musicians Collette Connery and Niamh Egan for the beautiful music during the Mass, which John would have so much loved. We send thanks to Milford GAA who provided their flag which donned John's coffin for the Mass, and for his final journey to his resting place in Ballinakill Cemetery, Milford. We are grateful to all who joined us in celebrating John's life at his Funeral Mass.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our deepest gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.
May God and Mary bless you every night and every day,
In sunshine or in shadow, whether skies are dark or grey,
When you meet with joy or sorrow, when you work or when you play,
May God and Mary bless you every night and every day.
John's Anniversary Mass will be held on Saturday the 21st December at 7:00 PM in SS Peter & Paul Church, Kilmallock.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Nollaig, daughters Christina (Faust), Maureen (Treacy), Veronica (Freeman), Olive (O’Donnell) and Deborah (Nimmo), sons Michael, Johnny, Liam and Seamus, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, his 21 devoted grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.
