God saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb so he closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine"

Patricia, Olivia, Stephanie, Ronan and all the family of the late Joe Smith would like to express most sincere thanks for the expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us during our sad loss of our beloved husband, father and brother Joe.

We wish to thank Dr Wilhelm, Aveen and Stephen (Palliative Care) Claire and all the staff in Oncology, CGH. Dr Deirdre Kelly, Dr Sorcha O'Sullivan, Beaumont Hospital, Cavan General Hospital and Lisdaran Unit, special word of thanks to James and Ann for their care, comfort and compassion shown to Joe throughout his illness.

We also wish to acknowledge the invaluable services that Ballyjamesduff Cancer Fund provided during Joe's visits to the Beacon Hospital. We also wish to thank anyone who donated in lieu of flowers to Cavan Palliative Care and Ballyjamesduff Cancer fund, these services were of great beneifit to Joe and our family during his illness. 

To Fr Andrew Tully, your support and ongoing friendship and comfort to Joe and our family means so much. Also special word of thanks to Fr Pat Farrelly and Deacon Andy Brady. 

Our greatest appreciation to Sean and Ouray Mc Bride who carried out the arrangements and funeral in such a dignified and professional manner, thanks to Lakelands funeral home also.

To those who visited the funeral home, house or funeral, sent Mass cards, to those who phoned, texted, shared memories and messages of condolences, thank you all. 

To the car parking stewards, Barry Hughes who sang beautifully at Joe's funeral Mass and to all who helped in the Community Centre following the Mass, our sincerest thanks.

To our extended families, friends and dear neighbours, thank you all. 

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually please accept this acknowledgement as a gesture of our heartfelt appreciation. 

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law,  uncle, friend and neighbour. The courage, strength and dignity he displayed throughout his illness is an inspiration to us all. You are adored and missed by all who knew you. 

We loved you everyday you were with us and we will love and miss you everyday you are not.

Joe's Months' Mind Mass will take place on Saturday, 25th of February, at 11am in St Dympna's Church, Lower Lavey.
