Michael (Mick) Merrigan

 Michael (Mick) Merrigan

The Brickworks, Milltown South, Rathnew, Wicklow

The family of the late Michael (Mick) Merrigan, beloved husband of Anne, loving father of Catherine and Fiona, and brother of Maria, wish to extend our most sincere thanks for the many expressions of kindness, sympathy and support we have received since the time of Mick’s sad and sudden passing on 21 December 2022.

Our most sincere thanks to our extended Merrigan and Gillespie families, our dearest friends and neighbours, and to Mick’s wide circle of friends, including the Motorsport community in Ireland and abroad, his former colleagues in Mercedes Benz/Motor Distibutors and his treasured lifelong friends.

Many thanks to everyone who travelled long distances to offer our family comfort and support; attended the funeral home, funeral mass, and burial; sent Mass cards, letters, flowers, and kind messages of condolences; and to all those who could not be present on the day but joined us online in celebrating Mick's life.

Our sincerest thanks to Rev Fr. Dónal Roche for celebrating the beautiful funeral mass, concelebrants Rev Fr. James Corcoran and Fr. Pat O'Rourke, the funeral team at St. Patrick’s Church, Wicklow Town, and to Úna and Bríd Pedreschi for providing the prayerful singing and music. A special thank you to all who participated in the liturgy of the Mass and presented gifts of remembrance, and to Mick’s dear friend PJ Fallon for his eulogy.

We offer our most heartfelt thanks to Michael Cullen, Prof Ray McDermott, and the wonderful Oncology nursing team at the Beacon Hospital Dublin, who cared for Mick with such compassion and kindness throughout his short illness. Sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at Salem Medical Centre Wicklow; the National Ambulance Service, and to the staff at St. Vincent’s University Hospital who responded and cared for Mick in his final days.

A very special thank you to Willie Doyle and the staff of Flannery’s Funeral Directors for their professionalism, guidance, and kindness at this difficult time; to Tom, Emma, the Officers, staff and members of Wicklow Golf Club for their hospitality and support; to Wicklow Garda Síochána for traffic management, and to the Guard of Honour, provided by Mick's treasured friends, who respectfully accompanied him on his final lap to his place of rest.

As it would not be possible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a small token of our sincerest gratitude and appreciation at this time. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
