Michael's wife Maura and his family wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with them on their recent sad loss. Thank you all for your kind calls, Mass cards and messages from near and far which gave us great comfort in our toughest days.
To our own extended family who have given and shown unending love and support over the past few years to both Mam and Dad whenever it was needed. We will be forever indebted to you. You are truly special people and we are blessed to have you in our lives.
To the pall bearers Tommy, Michael, Mitchel, Denis, Paraic and Mick who carried Dad with such grace and pride, we thank you.
A special word of thanks to Dr Olywn Lynch, Nora, Malcolm.Michelle, Sandra, Susan and all the wonderful team of staff on Oriel Level 2 in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital who cared for Michael with devotion, dedication and compassion during his final weeks. To the pastoral care team of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital who prayed with Michael and gave him immense comfort in his final days.
We also thank the staff of Moorehall Lodge and Sunhill Nursing homes and the home carers who all played a part in caring for him the past few years. Thanks to his fantastic GP Dr Shane O Neill and the staff of Boyne Medical Practice for their care and kindness over the years.
Sincere thanks to Fr Tom Hogan and Fr Stephen Kennedy for the beautiful and personal farewell which they afforded to Michael at his funeral Mass. We were all overwhelmed by the wonderful send off he received.
To Joe Finnegan who streamed the Mass live and ensured Michael's family nationally, worldwide and those who could not attend due to Covid 19 could join with us in our emotional, but proud, celebration of his activity filled life.
To the whole team at Townley's funeral directors for their kindness, understanding, assistance and guidance. A special word of thanks to Paul Gillick, a fond friend of Michael's for all his care and devotion to us during our most difficult days. Your comforting words, dignified composure and reassurance will never be forgotten..
To Amie Dyer and Michael's 7 adored grandchildren Sinead,Tara, Niamh, Orla, Ciara, Aisling and Eimear, for their beautiful and heartfelt music and singing and especially for including 2 of his favourites, Red is the Rose and the Rose of Mooncoin. Grandad would have been bursting with pride. To Michael's hurling acquaintances from all over Louth who consoled us with performing a guard of honour to the church and his many GAA friends who accompanied him to Croke Park and further afield, sharing his passion for the small ball and all sport rain hail or shine.
To our wonderful neighbours and friends in Highfield and beyond who have always been so kind and supportive, particularly in recent times.
To Lolo, Paddy and all members of Drogheda Comhaltas who ensured he got to the weekly session for as long as he was able and all the members who performed at Moorehall Lodge on numerous occasions much to his and the other residents delight.
To all his Whist player friends who made it possible for him to enjoy his weekly game. He really loved his cards.
To the members of the Legion of Mary who called on visitation to Moorehall Lodge and allowed him to maintain a very important part of his life and faith in reciting the rosary.
