The family of the late Robert (Robbie) Smart of Avourwen Meadows, Drogheda and formerly of Avondale, Portarlington, who passed away, suddenly, on the 25 November 2022, would like to express our sincere thanks to those who sympathised with us on our sad loss.

We greatly appreciate all the phone calls, messages, social media posts, Mass cards, letters, flowers, food, condolences on RIP.ie and the thoughts and prayers you have had for our family during this difficult time. To those from Drogheda, Portarlington and beyond who attended the funeral home, funeral Mass or burial, we will be forever grateful and we appreciate the long distances travelled.     

Our sincere thanks to the staff in Centre Parcs, who could not have done any more to help during what was a difficult experience for everyone, including themselves. Thanks to the paramedics, emergency services, and to the staff in Mullingar Regional Hospital who did their absolute best for Robbie and who treated us with such empathy and respect.

To all in Townley and Sons Funeral Directors and to Fr. John and everyone at St Mary’s Church for helping us to give Robbie the send-off that was representative of the fun loving and caring man he was. Thanks also to Simon Casey and Gavin Murray for the beautiful music on the day and including some of Robbie’s favourites.

Many thanks to everyone in the travel industry who knew Robbie and turned up in their numbers to show their love and respect and for the guard of honour they provided. A special thanks also to Emma and Robbie’s previous and current employers for their kindness and support.   

And finally to Robbie’s close friends and neighbours in Drogheda and Portarlington, a special group of people (you know who you are), thank you sincerely for the comfort you gave to Emma, Holly and Robyn, and all of our family. We will be forever grateful to you for your kindness, love and support.    

As it is impossible  to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our heartfelt appreciation.

Robbie’s Month's Mind Mass will be held on 29 December at 7pm in St. Mary’s Church, James Street, Drogheda.
