Tony O'Flaherty

 Tony O'Flaherty

Arklow, Wicklow / Wexford Town, Wexford

Tony’s daughters Geraldine, Caroline, Angela & Mary, son John, beloved grandchildren Jonathan & Eva, sons-in-law Barry & James and all his extended family would like to sincerely thank each & every person who expressed sympathy & support, bringing much comfort to us throughout Tony’s recent sad passing.

Thank you to everyone who visited the funeral home, attended Tony’s removal, funeral mass & burial, most especially those who travelled long distances, those who sent Mass cards, letters, texts, online condolences and made phone calls.  Thank you to those who could not be present but joined us in the celebration of Tony’s life via webcam & also those who donated generously to the Wicklow Hospice in his memory; https://olh.ie/donate/

To our extended families, colleagues, neighbours & friends, we thank you for your continued kindness & support.

Our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses & caring staff of St. Vincent’s Hospital & to the wonderful team at Wicklow Hospice who brought such comfort to Tony’s final days. Special thanks also to his wonderful carers; Margaret, Padraigin, Margaret, Stephen, Trish, Lisa, Marjorie & Mary & to district nurse Claire, for the dignity & care they brought to Tony’s final years in the home he loved.

Thank you to Fr David Brough for his beautiful funeral mass & to Karla Tracey for her lovely singing. A special word of thanks to Niamh O’Connor for her amazing violin accompaniment, it meant so much to us.

To our extended families, our neighbours & friends & to Tony’s former colleagues & dear friends from the E.S.B., we thank you for the respect & love you have shown. To comrades & friends from Fianna Fáil, we thank you for your mark of respect – Tony would have been so proud.

Thanks also to the management & staff of The Olde Ship & to Orla’s Kitchen for their hospitality, to Joe & Tom from R.S.S. for tending to the grave & to all at John Sweeney & Sons Funeral Directors.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation. Tony was deeply loved by his family & all who knew him, he has left us all a lifetime of memories to cherish.

Tony’s month mind mass will be celebrated on Saturday 4th May at 6.30pm in St Mary & Peter’s Church & those who cannot attend are welcome to join via the church webcam;
