Alex Lawes (Stoneybatter, Dublin 7 and formerly of Inchicore and Celbridge) passed away March 22nd 2026. Brewer, Publican, Musician and Captain. Co-founder of both Whiplash and Fidelity.

Beloved brother to Eva and dear son of the late Dympna and Gerry. Our lives will never be the same at the sudden loss of this wonderfully kind, talented and charming man. Generous in every sense of the word, brilliantly funny and a creative genius.

Deeply missed by his loving sister Eva, brother-in-law Colin, his niece Dolly whom he adored and his dog Brettsie who was a joy in his life. Also sadly missed by aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family, work family in Whiplash and Fidelity Bar and his vast circle of friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Bourke’s Funeral Home, 71 Queen Street, Dublin 7 (D07CF68) from 4pm to 6pm Monday afternoon (April 6th). Alex’s Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday afternoon (April 7th) at 2.30pm at Dardistown Crematorium Chapel which will also be streamed live via the link below.
