Anne Carmel Casey Strickland

The family of Anne Carmel Casey, Strickland (née McAree), Castleross Village, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan and formerly of Belfast, wishes to notify the peaceful passing of our beloved member and friend following a brief respiratory illness on 23rd January 2024. Carmel's was a brilliant and unparalleled mind remembered as destined for the world's most noted institutions of learning. Following her own course, she chose to live simply as a mother and wife during five of the seven decades of her all too brief life. Her stellar mind included a wicked sense of humour.

Carmel always expressed her intense convictions and passions to everyone she met. Carmel brought joy to those who knew her, while always extending the hand of friendship to those who did not. A superbly engaging conversationalist, her great joys in life stemmed from her passion for reading and profound love of fine art, music, and repartees over a cup of tea. Carmel will be most deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have had her as a friend. Her deepest and most enduring love was reserved to her children.
