The death has occurred of Bernard (Brian) A. McKiernan.

Moycullen, Galway

 

Brian passed peacefully on Jan 28, 2024. Born on Feb 11, 1930 in Kuala Lumpur, Brian was the eldest son of James and Dora McKiernan, the proud brother of his five siblings, Miriam (RIP), Anne, Hugh, Felicity, Peter and their partners, beloved husband of the late Isolde Rüssli McKiernan, former husband of Judi DeSanty McKiernan, dear Dad to Brian (RIP), Ariane, Karin, Jim, Sara, Patti and their partners, loving grandpa to Nicole, Patrick, Isolde, Liam, Ellen, Chapman, Ingrid, Celia, Pierce, Warren and Corinne and uncle and grand-uncle to nieces and nephews worldwide.

Brian had an extraordinary ability to combine his talents and the engineering work he devoted his life to with entertaining narratives of the events he experienced and people he met around the world. May this gift and his love for family be Brian’s everlasting legacy.

 

The family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals who looked after Brian with such care, particularly the staff of An Teaghlach Uilinn Retirement and Convalescence Centre (Brookhaven Healthcare), Kilrainey, Moycullen and Dr. Sean Grimes.

 

A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date in the Aiséiri Funeral Room in Moycullen. Burial afterwards in Moycullen Cemetery.
