The death has occurred peacefully of Bernie O' Donoghue (nee Burke),former N.T., Cavan Road, Virginia, Co. Cavan and formerly Cloonfad,Roscommon peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on 9 March 2026. Predeceased by her husband Hugh Bernard, her parents Thomas and Rose, her brother Tom and her sister Marian. Much loved mother of Ann (Towey; Meath), Tadhg, Gráinne (Smart), Róisin (Kelly), Brian and Tom (Newbridge).

Bernie will be sadly missed by her sons and daughters, her daughters in law Áine and Elsie, sons in law Fintan, Martin and Maurice, her cherished and adored grandchildren; Aisling, Shane, Cian, Michéal, Connor, Cameron, Euan, Andrew, Ruth, James, Meabh, Sinéad, Séan, Roisin, Tomás, Jessica, Abbey and Beth, brother in law, sister in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace

Remains reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Wednesday evening from 5 o’clock until prayers at 8 o’clock. Removal to Mary Immaculate Church, Virginia via Main Street, arriving for 11 o’clock Funeral Mass on Thursday 12th March, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

House private please at all times.

As a mark of respect, O’Donoghue’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Virginia will be closed on Thursday.

The O’Donoghue family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care, kindness and support given to their mother by the Cavan General Hospital medical team and to her wonderful carers and her special friend and carer Lucy.
