It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Breda Kelly (née Matthews), 24 Conway Park, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow. Breda passed away peacefully, on 26th December, 2024, in the care of the staff at Beechwood Nursing Home, Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow, surrounded by her loving family. Breda is predeceased by her son Francis, her parents Mary and Richard Matthews, her brother Joe, sisters Nellie and Mary and her son-in-law Austin Devers. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Jimmy, daughter Mary, son Dermot, her cherished grandsons Darragh, Rory, Seán, James, Jack and Rory’s wife Aly. Breda is also mourned by her daughter-in-law Carol, her sister Ann (England), her brother Richard (Tinryland), her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, her many nieces and nephews, extended family, kind neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Cushen’s Funeral Home, Kilcarrig Street, Bagenalstown (Eircode; R21 V127) on Saturday, 28th December, from 2 pm until 8 pm, with Prayers at 7pm. Breda’s Funeral cortège will leave on Sunday, 29th December, from her son Dermot’s residence in Gleann na Bearú, via Conway Park, and the cortège will then walk from Hurley’s Lane, to arrive at St. Andrew’s Church, Bagenalstown, for Requiem Mass at 11.30 am. Burial afterwards in The Cemetery of the Assumption, Bagenalstown.
