On Thursday the 22nd of January 2026, Brid passed away very peacefully, in the exceptional care of the staff of The Galway Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Predeceased by her son Richard and recently deceased daughter Sharon, sisters Julia Killilea, Evelyn Flaherty and Baby Margaret, niece Cathy Coffey and nephew Jimmie Smith.

 

Beloved wife of Pat and adored mother of Martina. Cherished grandmother of Roanna and Aoibhín and treasured mother-in-law of Aidan. She will be sadly missed by her much-loved sisters Mary Coffey, Kay Concannon, Ann Gilmore, Margaret Smith, Sally Greally and Claire Gilmore, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and her many friends.

Reposing at Irwin’s Funeral Home, Bóthar Irwin, Galway (H91 CK84), on Sunday the 25th of January from 3pm until 5pm. Funeral cortege will arrive at St. Columba’s Church, Castlegar (H91 E4C9) on Monday the 26th of January for Requiem Mass at 11am. Brid will then be laid to rest in Menlo Cemetery with her son Richard and daughter Sharon.

The Lawless Family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at University Hospital Galway and The Galway Hospice Foundation for the exceptional care and compassion that was given to Brid throughout her time, in both places.

 

Parking: There is ample parking available at The Corrib Shopping Centre Multi-Story Car Park (H91 DP6R) which is only 2 minutes walk to/from the funeral home. The entrance to the car park is from Bóthar Na mBan. Please note that this car park will close at 6:30pm on Sunday evening.
