Bridget “Delia” (Connolly) Larsen of Milford and Gulfport, FL died peacefully, surrounded by her family Tuesday March 24, 2026.

 

Delia was born on March 23, 1940, to the late Michael and Mary (Joyce) Connolly (Micil Beag and Mary Sarah) in Derroe, County Galway, Ireland. The fourth of thirteen children and the first daughter, she naturally embraced the responsibilities of the eldest sister. Throughout her life, she cared for others with love and kindness.

 

After moving to Boston in 1958, Delia met Robert “Bob” Larsen at the State Ballroom, and they married in 1965 at her home church, Cill Treasa, Ros a Mhil. Their 60-year marriage was marked by devotion and unwavering partnership. When her siblings immigrated to the United States, Delia helped each of them settle by offering her home, guidance, and support. She paved the way for their success. Her family remains deeply grateful for her generosity and selflessness.

 

Delia’s strong work ethic defined both her professional and personal pursuits. She dedicated many years to John Hancock and took great pride in working in her garden in Milford. She earned her degree from Northeastern University while working full time, a milestone she and her family were immensely proud of.

 

A deep love of home—both Ireland and the United States—was central to Delia’s life. She returned to Ireland often, creating meaningful memories with Bob and her family. Additionally, they made memorable trips to other destinations, such as Hawaii, Bermuda, the Bahamas, England, France, Switzerland, and Portugal. In retirement, Delia and Bob cherished their winters in Florida.

 

Delia was a devoted wife, daughter, daughter‑in‑law, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Robert, her brothers Bartley, Michael (both in Ireland), Jimmy (Milton), and her sisters Maire (Quincy), Nan (Weymouth), and Sarah, Maggie, and Norah (all of Ireland). Delia was also devoted to her many nieces, nephews, in‑laws, and cousins who adored her. She was predeceased by her brothers Pat, Johnny, Cole, and Mattie and was the cherished daughter‑in‑law of the late John and Mary Larsen.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Saturday, March 28 at 11:30 am. Viewing will be private and interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clearwater, Florida at a later date.
