Carmel Brophy
(née Whelan)
Carmel Brophy (nee Whelan) of Fairymount, Crettyard, Co. Laois passed away peacefully on 10th January, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her son Shane, grandson Ryan, her parents Aloysius and Margaret, her sister Angela and her nephews Liam and Peter Kearns. Carmel will be sadly missed by her loving husband Liam, sons and daughters Linda, Ronan, Sarah, Becky, Liam, George and Adrian, her twenty grandchildren, her two great grandchildren, sons and daughters-in-law, brothers and sisters Tom, Eileen, Theresa, Josie, Frank, Gerry and Bernie, brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, friends and her former colleagues from Laois County Council.
Carmel will repose at her home at Fairymount, Crettyard, Co. Laois (R93 YX63) on Sunday 11th January, 2026 from 4pm until the conclusion of the Rosary 8pm. Removal on Monday 12th January, 2026 to arrive at St Abbans Church, Doonane for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
