(née Maguire)

Rocklands, Cavan Town, Cavan / Dublin

Carmel Colgan, Rocklands, Co. Cavan and formerly Dublin. Beloved and loving wife of Bill. Carmel passed away peacefully, on the 17th of June 2023, after a long illness bravely borne with grace and dignity, in the care of staff from St Joseph's Lisdarn, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her beloved parents Bill and Molly, son in law Jim, her most beloved brother Shea, Brothers in law Jack and Paul sisters in law  Irene Mary Teresa.

 

Sadly missed by her husband Bill, daughters Sandra (Eamonn), Linda (The late Jim), Maria (Paul), Teresa (Brendan), son’s, Liam (Niamh) and Peter, her cherished  17 grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

 

Reposing at her home tomorrow, Monday, from  5.00pm until 8.00pm   Removal on Tuesday morning at 10.30am to the Cathedral of SS Patrick and Felim, Cavan, to arrive for 11.00am Requiem Mass, interment afterwards in Glasnevin Cemetery. The support  to her husband Bill and family from her brothers, Sean, Paddy, Liam and sister Ann, sisters in law,  Anne, Christine and Marie,  Rose, Nancy, Rosanna,  Mary and Janet, brothers in law Charlie, Mick, Francis and Joe, close friends Bríd and Karen has been greatly appreciated.

Mam worked in catering and then later she worked in the Bank of Ireland in College Green for 20 years as part of their cleaning staff, She was very proud to represent her co-workers as their union rep and on her retirement she relished the chance to throw herself into her hobbies which included a love of Line dancing swimming  and Art groups, Mam loved meeting new people and  mam and dad made a very happy decision  to move to  Cavan  she took the opportunity to become involved in her new community and readily volunteered with The Help the aged hotline, the tenants group, the John Sullivan community group and participated art classes and her knitting club Mam loved being around People making new friends
