GRIMES (Innishannon): On February 9th, 2026, peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of Cork University Hospital. Carmel, beloved wife of Michael and loving mother of Michael, Robert and Dorothy. Sister of the late Vera Daly and Robert Shaw, mother of her late daughter Veronica and sister-in-law of Helen, Mary and the late Fr. Ed.

Sadly missed by her loving family, daughters-in law Rosaleen and Mirka, grandchildren Conor, Declan, Clíona and Robert, relatives and friends.

Carmel will be lying in repose at Gabriel and O'Donovan's Funeral Home, Bandon (eircode P72WE20) on Thursday from 6pm followed by Prayers at 7pm.

Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am in St. Mary's Church, Innishannon followed by Cremation in The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy.

Donations in lieu of flowers to the Bandon Community Hospital Day Care Centre.

The family would like to thank the staff of the National Ambulance Service and Cork University Hospital who took exceptional care of Carmel over the past few years. Also thank you to the Bandon Day Care Centre for the kindness and social care they provide to the elderly in our community, and to her carers and more recently the staff of the Kinsale Community Hospital who cared for Carmel in her last few months.
