Celia O’Malley, nee Cannon, age 85 - Passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rockfield, Aughagower, Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland on September 20, 1939. Dear daughter of the late William and Bridget (nee Walsh) Cannon. She married the love of her life on October 31, 1959. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, matriarch, sister, aunt, friend, counselor, great cook and baker, gardener, music lover and seamstress. She had deep faith, loved the Lord and Mother Mary, always helped others, loved cooking for others and was there for her family every single day. Celia was one of the strongest, most welcoming, hardworking and kindest people you could ever meet. Beloved wife of Frank O’Malley (Doughmakeon, Louisburgh, Co. Mayo). Loving mother of Mary Theresa (Wai) Lau, Eileen, Sheila (Willie) Barker, Noreen (Jerry) Oleksy, Jane (Charlie) Hynes, Kathleen (Chuck) Dorff, Sean (Roxanne), Grainne, Frankie, Patrick and Michael. Dear sister of Mary (the late John) Heneghan and sister-in-law of Susie (the late Tom) Cannon; dear sister of the late Michael (the late Greta) Cannon; the late Jack Cannon; the late Walter (the late Kathleen) Cannon; the late Patrick (the late Ann) Cannon, and the late William Cannon. Cherished grandmother of Siobhan (Evan) Hunter, Michael (Lauren) Lau; Ryan Matthew; Jaclyn and Brendan (fiancé Alexandra) Barker; Caitlin (Erik) Owenson and Austin Dorff; Sean Hynes; Bridget, Patrick and Kathleen Oleksy; Alex and Margot O’Malley; Emma and Olivia O’Malley. Great-grandmother of Maeve Hunter and Rory Owenson. Daughter-in-law of the late Anthony and Jane (nee Burke) O’Malley; dear sister-in-law of the late Mary Rita (the late Thomas) Flatley; the late Fr. Patrick O’Malley; the late Thomas C. (the late Mary Ellen) O’Malley; the late Brigid O’Malley; and the late Austin O’Malley. Loving aunt of 12 nieces and 20 nephews and friend of many. May her gentle soul rest in peace. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation Friday, August 29, at the Colonial - Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Marion O’Connor Friel - Funeral Director, 8025 West Golf Road, Niles from 3:00pm until 8:00pm. Prayers will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30 at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Church, 320 South Washington Avenue, Park Ridge (at Northwest Highway). Going in procession to Maryhill Cemetery, Niles for Interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Patrick Fathers, 8422 West Windsor Avenue, Chicago IL 60656.
