Hayes (Née Burns) Cepta. Ballyhugh, Gort, Co. Galway and formerly of Stradbally, Clarinbridge. Peacefully on the 23rd of January, 2026, in the tender care of the staff of University Hospital Galway, surrounded by her devoted and loving family.

Pre-deceased by her beloved son Leslie, by her parents Pat and Nora and by her sister Marie Minogue and niece Linda.

Cherished and much loved, Cepta will be sadly missed by her loving husband Jack, by her sons Michael, John, Declan and Alan, by Michael’s partner Rachel, John’s partner Teresa, Alan’s partner Ann Marie, by Martina & Suzanne, by her adored grandchildren Samantha, Louise, Mark, Adam, Luke, Danny, Ethan and Alex and by her great-grandson Darragh. Fondly remembered by her brother John Burns, sister’s Noreen Heaney, Pauline Ryan, Lucy Cooney, Teresa O’Dea and Catherine Flynn, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, by the extended Hayes and Burns family’s, great neighbours and many friends.

Cepta will lie in repose in Seomra Ciúin, within Gort Town Hall, Church Street, Gort, (H91 E0C8) on Saturday evening, January 24th , from 5pm until 7pm. Private removal on Sunday January 25th with the Funeral cortege arriving to St. Colman’s church Gort for Requiem Mass at 1pm. Cepta will be laid to rest afterwards alongside Leslie in St. Colman’s Cemetery Gort. House private please for family and close friends.

The family deeply appreciates your kindness and support at this time. We wish to thank Dr. Piggott and all who cared for Cepta over the years, especially the staff on Shannon Ward in University Hospital Galway who were so kind to her in her final days. Finally, a special word of thanks to our wonderful family, neighbours and friends for all they have done to help us in these difficult days.
