The death has occurred of
Christopher Canavan
Christopher Canavan, 74, of Quincy passed peacefully on August 16, 2022. Survived by his wife Susanne (Fickert) and his brother Patrick and wife Nancy of Longboat Key, Florida. Chris loved his nieces and nephews. He taught machine shop at Somerville High School and is remembered as an excellent teacher. He had a wicked, sometimes outrageous, sense of humor and always spoke his mind.
Chris was an avid traveler, especially to his favorite place on Earth -- Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. Chris also enjoyed travels throughout Europe, rafted the Grand Canyon, and loved the outdoors and hiking, as well as the theater and reading. He was an expert sailor, sailed the Atlantic on his 50th birthday, and volunteered as a sailing teacher for the Special Olympics. Christopher will be sorely missed by many, both here and in Ireland.
