So very saddened to hear of Billy’s passing & sincere sympathies to Collette & Billy’s family. He was such a huge personality, he always made me laugh, always had a smile on his face & always had a story to tell. Everyone knew Billy Godfrey & he knew everyone. He will be so missed.

I met Billy in the mid 80s when I was managing Magnums Disco Bar in The Ryan Hotel. We became friends for a brief time before I left Limerick for the USA. He helped me secure a visa for the US through his connections in Todds. He was one of those rare people who you would take to instantly, he was funny, charming and helpful. I lost touch after my US adventure and for some reason his face appeared on a news feed I was looking at this morning and I was shocked and startled. He was a gentleman and someone I never forgot through the missing years. RIP

So shocked to hear this news, Billy was one of the nicest people I’ve ever known, have the nicest memories of working with him years ago in Todd’s. Billy, John, Carmel Catherine and I.
Anytime we met in the subsequent years we would have the best catch up chats ever! You will be missed my friend.
