To all the Proles, I am so sorry about your mum's death and sorry not to be able to be with you at the service for her. It was good to join it online and hear about her inspiring life, guided by kindness. She gave me many a lift home from school, and I was always struck by her keen interest in other people and her sense of fun. I have memories too of the warm welcome your parents gave me in their home on the Malahide Road. With love and sympathy at this time.

I've just heard of Desirée's passing and am so sorry to hear this. What a most wonderful lady, a fantastic neighbour and someone who set an example to us all by how she lived her life. The tributes on this page are a testament to a long life well lived.

My sincerest condolences to Mrs Prole’s family. I was a student in St Columba’s/ RMDS, leaving in 1990, and I always think of her so fondly. A kind and reliable and inspiring teacher. I’ll always remember us gathering round the piano to sing as she played. I feel very lucky to have had her as such a positive influence on my young self.

Her determination and resilience in building this school at the beginning has helped shape the school it is today. So sorry to hear of the death of Desiree. What a beautiful service she has just had in Drumcondra. Such a Christian lady to all she met. She came out to Old Borough School in Swords to teach the children singing. Her flowers and plants at the sale in North Strand were always beautiful. May she flourish in heaven as much as she did on earth.

Saddened to hear this news, sending condolences from our family to yours. I was lucky to be a student of Mrs.Prole in Ranelagh, she had a huge impact on me, fellow students and the school ethos in general.
When my family moved from Ranelagh to the Northside, Desiree often drove me home as it was (somewhat) on the way. The routine was the same, we collected the leftover sandwiches, milk and buns and packed them in the car. We would then make a detour and drop them off at the homeless centre before making the trip home. This was one of the many ways she led by example. Rest in peace. (RMDS, class of 1992)

My sincere condolences to the Prole family,
As a pupil of St.Columba’s and later RMDS Mrs.Prole gave so much of herself to us all, instilling strong morals and principles which I can recognise in us all as adults.
She held a special place in my family’s heart, however, as she took it upon herself to write to our father who lived as a quadriplegic in a care home in New Jersey. They never met (as far as I can recall) but she wrote to him for years, remembering him in her Christmas Cards. He loved receiving them over the years.
