Deepest sympathy to Finbarr, John, Triona and all the extended Hayes family on the passing of Cormac who I fondly remember going to school with so many years ago. I remember Cormac as a very bright and friendly person when attending St Johns Primary School so many years ago. May he rest in peace.

He was a constant in an ever changing Kinsale and the town will be an emptier place without him.

Over the Wall

My fondest memories of Cormac are of our chats over the wall,
From days gone by, we were jumping up because we were too small.
As we grew up, we continued to chat,
The weather, news in town, this and that.

Cormac, you've seen us grow along the way,
From children doing exams to the present day.
Celebrating every success, mourning every loss,
Always so pleasant, encouraging, never cross.

It started with a chat over the wall,
Sometimes the garden when retrieving a ball.
We've been at that wall, rain, hail and shine,
Even while snowing from time to time.

You've shown us what it means to be a true neighbour,
Your kindness and compassion were never a labour.
It came to you naturally, it was just you,
We appreciated your empathy more than you ever knew.

Over the wall we shared a laugh and a joke,
While you were outside having a smoke.
We learned the values you hold dear,
It was very special to have you so near.

So many happy memories over the wall,
With your friends the McCarthys, Regina and Paul.
Now your presence isn't right next door,
It's imprinted in our hearts forever more.
