I was a Direct Entry Engineer Corps Officer, stationed in Athlone in the late 70’s, and Colonel Blake was my Commanding Officer. He developed an extensive Building programme across the Western Command. He designed this programme, in-house, managed and executed the programme while taking full responsibility for its completion. He deserves huge credit for his work and every barracks in the Western Command has been enhanced in one way or another as a result. This is just one example of his many achievements in his Army career.
