So sad to hear of Pete’s passing. I had the honour of getting to know the big man through work over the last 15 years or so. For many years I regularly called to service the lines in the Fran Well and always looked forward to my chats with Pete, always greeted with ‘How are ya boy!’ A handshake and a big grin. Truly one of the good guys. I’ll miss you buddy. RIP.

I was lucky enough to pal around with Peter many years ago (1983ish to 1989ish ! Looking back i was at very impressible age and how lucky I was of the friends I had at that time Peter being one ,I find myself smiling at this tragic time reading about people’s experiences with Peter and that over all the years he did not change one bit , his loyalty ,kindness,laughter ,gentleness and a little bit of messing never left him ! Rest easy old friend you’ll not be forgotten ,to his partner ,children and family no words I write will ease your heartache I just hope reading how much he was loved and influenced peoples life’s without Peter realising it himself will help you some way

My heart goes out to Peter's family at this difficult time. Much has been said in recent days about Peter's greatness, yet no matter how hard we try, it’s impossible to fully express what Peter meant to us, family and friends alike.

That said, I would like to share this: as a foreigner living in Cork, I always felt that Peter had a deep sensitivity and understood expats’ need for inclusion. He did his utmost to make us feel part of the community, and for this I was, and always will be, deeply grateful.

But most importantly, I feel that Peter always had time for anyone who asked; time to reach out, to help, to listen. That time we all enjoyed was made possible by his family’s generosity, and it is with the deepest appreciation that I acknowledge this debt.

Let us all follow his example. Rest in peace.
