Adrienne gave her time and expertise so generously to our kids at Amergin Steiner school. She was loved by all. We have very fond memories of the incredibly talented and lovely Adrienne. May she rest in peace.

I’ve just heard. Adrienne was so funny and sometimes so earnest. Condolences to family and others who will miss her.

A shining light has left our valley. Such a beautiful lady inside and out who has left a legacy of colour for generations to come. We will treasure the books she gave each of my children. Our sympathy to all her family and friends. Joanne, Fionan, Sinead and Tara.

It was a privilege to work with Adrienne, and I'm so pleased that she has left a wonderful legacy of books behind, for children to enjoy for many more years.

Adrienne was a dear, most loveable and loving friend. It was always a joy to meet her or speak to her by phone as she had so much warmth and good humour in her inimitable throaty voice.Her interpretation of wildlife was supreme and I (Mary) am so happy that I was able to arrange for a number of her works to be purchased from her which now hang proudly in a private home where they are much admired and appreciated.Likewise we are so happy that we have some both upstairs and downstairs in our own home to remember her by. May she rest in eternal peace and happiness.

Adrienne and my late husband Bruce, or Mwenye Hadithi, produced 15 magical books over 32years. It was a wonderful partnership and innumerable children loved the books. Those children are now reading the books to their own children; that makes them classics. Crafty Chameleon won the Kate Greenaway medal for her illustrations. Adrienne was full of fun with a charming sense of humour, quick to smile and easy on the eye.

We are so sad to hear of Adrienne's passing. I will always remember her wonderful African tales whilst myself and a friend were getting drawing lessons from her. She was one of the most interesting people I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. She was a beautiful woman and a wonderful artist, and very encouraging and supportive of me trying to learn to draw. She will be missed.

Adrienne set me on the path to illustration and was always so encouraging, but her talent was something else altogether. Her soft, delicate style was uniquely hers. She captured her love of the natural world in her marvelous illustrations and tinted them with her lovely warm humour.
We are all blessed to have these books to remember her by. I hope she is off enjoying her 'last great safari!'
