Very sad to hear about Aileen (Mrs. Smyth). My condolences go out to her family & friends. Mrs. Smyth was my primary school teacher in 5th & 6th class in VMGNS in the early 90s. She instilled a lasting love of music and learning in me which I’m forever grateful for and was, without a doubt, my favourite teacher in all my school years. Mrs. Smyth made school so enjoyable and I remember her lovely manner, dedication to her students and great sense of humour. I hope Mrs.Smyth realised how much of a positive impact she had on many young people’s lives. She was truly one in a million and I’ll never forget her. Thank you Mrs. Smyth. Rest in peace.

Dear Harry , I watched the funeral Mass streamed in my front room . It was the most heavenly experience and a beautiful farewell to your beloved wife Aileen . Your sharing of your love story was wonderful . Priest did a truly great job, grandchildren’s prayers perfectly done . Choir & music was higher order ! A fitting send off for Aileen , great woman for music who always shone her light & helped others do the same .

Sincere sympathy to all Aileen’s family
My only memory of Aileen was in Kerry. As a young one she cycled down to our home in Ballyhemickin from Baltovin . I was fascinated by her sense of managing the roads, locked her bike in our back yard and stayed with us as a cousin.for a few hours. My mother Eily McGrath then 0’Carroll was so impressed that Aileen made this effort. Her personality reminded me of Julia Griffin my grandmother Julia McGrath and Aileen grand aunt.’
On this past Good Friday I visited Ballybunion and did the nuns beach walk along the cliff walk and and recalled with fondness Sisters Cecilia and Alysious. Memories. Little did I know that Aileen was on her way up there to Heaven to meet them.
Sr Cecilia always kept us as a family up to date with Mossie’s children.
The ancestral Griffin grave is in the Ardfert Cathedral.grounds very near teampal na Griffin
