I was so sad to hear the news of Alain's passing. It really is the end of an era. I always loved the smell of his pipe tobacco when I was a child, even though I was a little bit scared of him. He was so kind to me at Mum's (Lily Warner) funeral years ago, threw his arms around me. I was shocked he even knew who I was as I hadn't seen him for years. A lovely man who will no doubt be hugely missed by his family. Sending lots of love to all the Dale Road Ollier kids. I'll be thinking about you all on Friday.

Alain was a good friend of my late Father Frank McCarthy and they regularly met up in O’Dwyers for a few pints and I know Frank really enjoyed Alain’s company as did I whenever I had the pleasure of meeting him.
