We had many laughs, first at The Forum Newspaper in Finglas when Alan was a keen whippersnapper of a newshound, and then at The Northside/Southside People when, as a typesetter, he patiently endured our "just one more tiny change" requests! I was so shocked to hear this morning (12-11-2025) during my work break about Alan's passing. I worked with him as a temp in Desktop Publishing (DTP) at SOLAS, and he was such a gentle person. He was also a really nice person to talk to. My condolences to all who knew him. RIP.

My sincere sympathy to Sandra and all of Alan's family and friends. I'm not sure I have the words to properly convey my admiration for him but Ill try.
In fact, I'll pick out three particular words to try and sum Alan up.

Caring...
First of all he was caring, always concerned for everyone's well-being, always putting others before himself, always the first to shake your hand at games and ask after you and yours.

Dedicated...
He was dedicated and hard working. The sheer effort he put into producing such a brilliant match programme at Bohemians was nothing short of extraordinary. He just loved that programme, he was immensely proud of it and to be it's edtor, and fiercely protective of, and encouraging to, those of us who helped him in any small way to put it together.

Decent...
He was such a decent person, just a genuine soul, a good man, a great friend down the years. I'll miss the Father Ted themed Christmas card exchange! He always carried himself with a poise and dignity and always made sure you knew how pleased he was to see you.

It was a privilege to have known him, worked with him, chatted to him, spent time with him...and I will miss him always, as I'm sure many, many at Dalymount will. The place wont be the same without him but those that knew him will always remember him at future matches at Dalyer, his happy place.

Go easy my friend, Rest in Peace.

Sandra I am so sorry for your loss. Alan carried out incredible work with the programme over the years. I remember on one occassion I contacted Alan the afternoon of a game as it was my friends fathers anniversary. He replied within minutes and a lovely piece was added to that evenings programme. Such kindness and respect shown to members who have passed on. He will be terribly missed by all at Dalymount. Stephen Silke.
