What to say? The news of your passing has devasted us all. Although not blood you were, and always will be, our family. I've called you Uncle Al since becoming your friend in 1996 due to you always being so wise, full of advice and the font of all knowledge. You have always been a wonderful friend to our family and a brilliant 'Umcle' to our four children. Always at any family functions, no matter how far away they were. Infact you have been a friend to 3 generations of the De Freitas family! you are our family.

We all miss you so much, visiting London without being able to pop in to see you is hard.
We have so many memories that we have shared , all filled with laughter and that is how we will always remember you, with a huge smile on your face, a funny story to tell , a wise word to share and one of the kindest most decent humans I knew.

Oh Al, what am I going to do without you?

I first met you in the summer of 93, and we remained close for the next 31 years. 31!!

You have been a constant in my life for so long that I will never be able to quantify your absence.

I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve gone away together over the years. So many funny moments, so many experiences, so many memories.

You were there when my Mum was ill, you helped my Dad when Covid struck, you have been to so many family events because that is what we saw you as, one of us, another member of our family. My wife and children have always referred to you as Uncle Al, and it’s as Uncle Al that you will forever be known in our house.

Everyone who knew you, liked you. You were that guy. Everyone who knew you, misses you.

You were easily the kindest, funniest, warmest, most compassionate, knowledgeable and wisest person I have ever met. You always had an opinion and advice for any number of issues.

It has been a complete and utter privilege to have you as my closest friend. Although you know that I always thought of you as a brother.

Rest in peace son, I’ll love you forever.

I was very sad to hear of Alan's untimely passing. Fond memories of our secondary school days, particularly the fun we had in transition year and Whites Hotel London. Alan was a good friend who loved to chat, but also listened. He was kind and always smiling. My dearest Alan, may you Rest in Eternal Peace In the Arms of Jesus. I was heart broken today when i heard of you passing.
I shall forever treasure our beautiful friendship when we first met in London in 90's. We were inseparable. I remember our years together & our few trips together, especially our trip to Liverpool, (the birth place of one of your heros John Lennon) what a magical weekend we had dear friend, full of laughter, fun & wonderful memories.

Alan was a good friend of mine in Maria Immaculata. He was sweet, genuine, considerate and kind. Always smiling and easygoing, been in Alan's company always put you at ease. He was fun loving and humorous. There was never a dull moment when Alan was around. A friend to everybody, he was much beloved by all. I was heart broken when I learned of his passing.

You were taken from us too soon Alan and truly the world is a much lesser place because of it. You are gone but you will never be forgotten.
