He was named Jet and Alan and myself used to play with Jet and listen or play music during the summer months. He was such a kind and gentle soul. RIP Alan. Sleep well.

So sad to hear of Alan passing didnt know him very well but knew him from living in Shannon i would often see him everyday cycling on his bike heading for Bunratty then Limerick and he would always say hello thinking of his parents and family at this sad time may he Rip 🙏

My sincerest condolences to the Doran family on the untimely passing of Alan. I am living in Dublin for the last 30 years, but every time I think back to the innocent fun and craic we had in Shannon in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Alan is always there. Great fun, a razor sharp wit, a talented artist and a brilliant guy to spend time with. The copies of the posters I have that Alan drew for the Alternative Discos are one of my treasured possessions, not to mention the card he made for me for my 21st. Gone too soon. May he rest in peace.

Dear Teresa, Patsy, Andrea, Niall, Jessia and all the family. Sincere condolences on hearing the news yesterday about Alan. We had no idea he was unwell. You were all a big part of my childhood and I have wonderful memories of Alan in my life since we started school up until the last time he waved at me from his bike when I was home. In childhood his character was always "Face" from the A-Team and he was a wonderful artist. He once drew us all as cartoons on the back of a weetabix cereal box. I still have it in our attic at home. Alan always made me smile and laugh up through the years until life took us in different directions. Love to you all XxX

From Mr Pickwicks in the good olde days for the coffee after choir on Saturday mornings, to Helsinki, Neerpelt, Cork and beyond, we had great fun and nights with Alan. From jamming in his parents' sitting room of a band that had big dreams, like the music we danced to at Alternative Discos and gigs, we also laughed more than played music. From the Wren Boys on St Stephens Days, to the casual chat and a coffee, or just a walk around town, philosophising and wondering, or his sketching and drawing thought provoking art, Alan you have left me and us with lovely memories.
