So sad to hear of the passing of my great friend Alan. Our sincere condolences to you, Julie and each and everyone of the family. We grew up together in St Anne’s, Raheny where our mothers became the best of friends. Our friendship began in primary school and continued on the streets of St Anne’s. Got to know him even better here in Kilmore West especially in conversation over the Dubs and their chances in pursuit of Sam. He’ll be sadly missed and I was glad to able to share a few words with him during the year at ceremonies involving our grandchildren. Sleep well my friend until we meet again. RIP. Alan, Rose and family.

Julie,Michael,Paul, Sharon and Emma, I’m truly sorry to hear this terrible news. Alan was a gentleman and had a very positive outlook about him, regardless of what he faced. I met Alan when visiting my mother (Theck) in St. Jame’s, he really buoyed her up in there and they developed a great friendship. I can’t remember if it was Michael or Paul who shook my hand in the ward, but all of you were so kind to my mother and very welcoming and kind to me that day. I cannot forget that. The first time meeting Alan I knew he was a gent and full of wit. I was truly shocked when I heard yesterday, so I can’t imagine what you are all going through. Sincere condolences from all of us in west Cork.

One of the first gents i had the pleasure to meet when i started in The Horse & Hound all them years ago. Only talking to him awhile back telling me how much you were looking forward to Emma and Glenns wedding and how proud you were of all your family and many grandchildren. When i first meet you, you only had the one. I told you that made me feel old and you replied how old do you think i feel. Rest easy Alan. One of the good ones gone to soon.
