Alan interviewed me for a job in Underwriting and I subsequently worked alongside him in bankcentre. He was a true gentleman, always approachable and had a great sense of humour. Sincere condolences to his entire family.
Alan, was a gentleman in AIB, all the good work he did for charities and his community will not be forgotten. Condolences to his family, such a sad loss.

Very saddened to hear of Alan's passing. Deepest sympathies to his family. May he rest in peace
To me, Alan was a friend. But to many he was a community hero.
I was lucky to see some of the things AIan did for the community.

In 2005 he organised a fund raiser for Aughrim Celtic. It was a Q&A with Mark Lawrenson. Seeing Alan and Lawro discuss the ups and downs of Liverpool over fat frogs many hours after the event is an abiding memory.

He spent so much time giving to the old folks of Stoneybatter. One year when he organised a dinner for them he booked Dickie Rock to sing. The old folks loved it and the singing and dancing went on long into the night.

As part of the Stoneybatter festival he was involved with 'Batter radio’ which set about recording interviews with older members of the community, creating an audio history of the area. He also volunteered with meals on wheels in the city centre.

The Stoneybatter defibrillator is a huge achievement and something he never gave up on and he continued to fund raise to cover ongoing costs. The launch event in 2019 featured on the RTE six o’ clock news, in the Irish Times, on the radio, and on social media. Alan was rightly very proud that day.

Most important to Alan, and the apple of his eye, were Faye and Joe. When Faye was a toddler we used to go for weekend brunch, making our way around the city. When Joe came along we decided to bring it in house and did it in his place or mine.

They were great days and I treasure the memories.

To Mark, Eilis, Faye and Joe - my sincere condolences. Rest in peace Al

He kept in touch when I returned to branch banking. He always spoke so highly about his beloved family and children. Rest easy Alan. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam

Rest easy my friend. Taken way too soon.
I was away on holidays when I received the news of Alan’s passing and it was a total shock to say the least as I had only spoken to him on a few occasions days beforehand. He told me about his new managers role in a bar and restaurant on the Southside and wanted me to help him redesign some new menus for the place. My family and I have known Alan all our lives and my late dad even taught him how to drive a car which he never forgot. I also did some business with him over the years in AIB and when he worked in Kavanaghs pub, he was always very helpful and one of the hardest working people I have ever met and he also gave up a lot of his time to good causes in the area. May he Rest in Peace.
I was so saddened to hear of Alan’s sudden passing. I knew him back in the day when I had the good fortune of working with him. We had great laughs. His big smile, his positivity and his dapper gorgeous energy made every day better. He gave me one of the best pep-talks that have stayed with me to this day. Sending my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
I worked with Alan in AIB and he was a lovely guy to chat to and get advice from. Alan you will be missed from this world.
