My condolences to all his family. I first met Alan when we were members of the local forum. He was a valued member of the commitee and friend.
R.I.P Alan
My deepest and most sincere condolences to Alan's family.
I met Alan in 1998 when I started working in IBM, and he was like a mentor to me, always available to help me with the easiest and the most difficult problems. Most of the time I didn't even have to ask him for help - if he knew I was dealing with a very difficult issue, he would come and check regularly how things were going, and with his endless knowledge and amazing analytical skills he would always find the right solution to the problem at hand.
I learned so much from him - he knew everything that was there to be known. I always looked up to him - he inspired me to love and know IT in the same way as he did, which of course was impossible! He was a genius of the IT, and I feel very grateful and blessed to have met him and work with him, as he was, is an will always be an inspiration.
He was a gentleman - he was kind and funny and always made me laugh and feel relieved that he was there to help, because I knew that with him around all problems would be solved.
Thank you Alan. You were always there to support and to cheer up everyone around you.
Thank you for all the knowledge and help you have passed to other. Your infectious passion and enthusiasm, and your thirst to go deep in the knowledge of things have inspired me, and -like me- so many more people.
I am deeply sad to hear these news.
We will miss you, Alan, but you will live forever in our memories.
My sincere condolences to Alan’s family at this time. Alan was my manager in IBM many moons ago, where he made me laugh, cry, blush, put the effort into learning and was always such a kind friend. Whenever it snows I’m reminded that he collected me for days in a row as I was afraid to drive myself. Such a gentleman, may he Rest In Peace.

Alan was a brilliantly smart man. I often think of him fondly, and the times that we worked together, laughed together and tried to handle this mad world, through jokes and sharing experiences. I am so saddened by this news, and I hope that he can finally have some solid rest, and be at peace.
