Dear Mary,
It was very sad to have just learnt of Alan's untimely passing - I hope you are bearing up as well as can be. Such fond memories of Alan from Clifden, where he so greatly enjoyed the relaxation it brought him, and was always great fun - as well as informative and insightful - when we got together for those evenings of chat and debate.
He will be missed by all of us who knew him from Clifden. Take good care of yourself, and may Alan rest in eternal peace.
