We joined the East Clare walking club,a number of years ago.
We found Alan to be a lovely ,kind and knowledgeable man.
We have some lovely memories of Alan.

So sad to hear of Alan's passing. He was such a gentle kind man and a great leader and walker with the East Clare walking club. Deepest sympathy to Linda, Laura and family.

Very sorry to hear the sad news about Alan. We have many fond memories of him. A great walker, walk leader and organiser of trips for the East Clare Walking Club! And a lovely kind man. Deepest sympathies to Linda and all the family.

Where do I begin? In 2018 we became one of the many 'vulnerable people' Alan took under his wing and we will be forever grateful for his unfaltering faith in us and support of our dreams. Alan was our 'Mr Fixit' - he helped to fix our physical and social dilemmas, always guiding rather than dictating and often with a chuckle too. When our own parents were absent, we looked to Alan for that elder direction and he never once let us down. Not once. We are devastated to lose such a special person and our home / life in Derrawee will always be a little emptier for his absence. Thank you for stepping in Alan when we needed you the most. We will never, ever forget you.

I was really sorry to hear of Alan's passing he was one of nature's gentleman and will be sadly missed by all of the East Clare walkers. I couldnt make the memorial today as I was ill.

So many happy childhood memories of times at Monks Garden, of walks over "The Rodney" and of New Year parties. More recently of his and Linda's visit to us for my 50th party and of our visit to Derrawee in 2013.
Alan, you were a gentle man and a gentleman in equal measure and we will miss you.

Alan will be very sorely missed by everyone who knew him. I remember him as an intelligent, practical and brave person, one of the quietest and best leaders in every situation he found himself. He always put the needs of vulnerable people first. Rest in peace Alan, you were a legend.
