Sincere condolences to Tim, Elma, Maureen & all the family on the passing of Alan. I remember a few years ago at the local supermarket, he was having a great conversation with a person at checkout, about football. It was lovely to hear and as always, its good to talk. Rest in peace

Alan was the first Irishman we met upon arrival about 9 years ago. Our granddaughter, Katie Anne Kennelly, was looking up distant relatives from Ballylongford He graciously took us on a tour to the garage, the pub, his church, the cemetery were his family were buried. He took us out Carrigafoyle castle where I feel in love with the Shannon River. He told us the story of the cow being taken up the tower steps! We have asked about him when we have eaten at the Horseshoe in Listowel so knew of his difficult health. I wish we’d met more of his family on our times we’ve passed thru the area. Katie has returned for a second trip with us and we’ve returned for seven trips. I think our love of Ireland all goes back to those first few hours with Alan and his kindhearted welcome to beautiful Ireland. May his spirit rest in peace with God and his family that has gone before him.

It is with great sorrow that Nóirín and I have learned of Alan's recent passing to his eternal reward. Our friendship stretches all the way back to 1962 when he used to collect me to take me training to Tralee. To his family we extend our deepest sympathy. He brightened our hearts through the many miles of the long roads we travelled and cheered us up in both
victory and defeat.
