Our sincere condolences to Aaron and Ben on the loss of your wonderful Dad. Will miss the banter and craic with him, whether at the bar in the Centre or on the pitch and putt course. He was a really good friend and had time for everyone. He will be truly missed by me and by all those who knew him well. The Flopps trips won’t be the same without him.

My sincerest condolences to Alan’s family.

I only knew Alan in passing from the Firhouse Centre bar smoking area. We’d had small chats in passing or shout across the room about the pool when Jimmy was sharkin’ everyone, as usual.

But last Saturday, when Dublin played Cork in the hurling, we ended up chatting for half an hour. We talked about his taxi, my new van, how we both hated lane assist features. He told me a mad story about crashing a van near the centre back in ’99, about his day, the heat, and how his son was off in Marbella, minding himself — a man he clearly respected deeply.

It was just a quiet pint after a hectic day, but that chat really left an impression on me. Even after the cigarette was done, we kept talking outside the function room. I walked away thinking, what a genuine skin. The kind of fella you’d look forward to bumping into again for a chat.

It shook me to hear that was the last time that would happen. That conversation holds such significance for me now hearing of his passing.

Alan came across as a true original. A proper Dub. A good man.

Wishing peace to his family, especially the sons he spoke so fondly of. May he look over you always.

Well that photo sums Alan up. Mischievous smile , always so positive and funny. Soon after Linda's passing when I went over to check on him , i didnt expect to laugh for the whole hour and come out in such good form . He had so many brilliant funny stories.
