My sincerest condolences. I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Alan. I knew him from the Residence days where he was such a kind team mate and great to all who worked with him. He made people's days better on either side of the bar.

I shall toast to him, and remember him very fondly.

I knew Rayo in my teenage years and remember him as such a lovely gentle guy who always wanted to make sure everyone was included. May he rest in peace.

Today's ceremony was a lovely reminder of wide-reaching impact of Alan Raythorn. A true free spirit who lived off human interaction and the moments that matter. He will be missed. Sending love to Lorna, Peter, and Max who have done so much to take care of him and deliver a worthy send-off.

Alan, I am always going to remember your great friendship, and mentorship. Those special milestones in my life that you were there to help me celebrate. I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss, I can’t begin to fathom the sadness you must be feeling right now. My thoughts are with you and your family, and I hope you find solace in knowing how loved Alan was.

From the moment I met him it was obvious that “Rayo” was someone that everyone was drawn to. He was kind and open and honestly just so much fun to be around - he was someone you felt you could rely on and I saw that in how he treated his friends. Full of wisdom and stories, sitting on the balcony in San Diego just chatting about life, they were great days and nights.

He was also the man who kept me calm on the bus to the Mexican border - even though I did chicken out on him in the end!

I knew Rayo in my teenage years and he was always the best fun to be around. His energy was infectious!
One of my favourite memories is the day we went on a 'Magical Mystery Tour' around Rathfarnham. I know he was a big Beatles fan and I will always smile when I hear that song.

Alan was a close friend and someone who made me laugh until I cried, he was deeply caring and one of those rare people that truly listened to others. I find it hard to believe he’s gone.

His passion for other people’s success and enthusiasm when people achieved their goals always made me smile. He was a fantastic mentor and teacher yet never thought he had nothing left to learn.

He’ll be deeply missed.

I'm heartbroken to hear we lost the absolute legend that is Rayo! I grew up with him in primary school then knocking around rathfarnham playing ball to the McGowan's days.

I honestly can't think of anyone that made everyone and I mean everyone smile when he came round. He had such a passion for everything he did it was infectious and he always showed great interest in others. I can't think of anyone that didn't get on with Rayo it was one of the those simple things in life Rayo is a legend .

I'm really gonna miss him but one thing I can say I'm a better man for knowing Rayo I think we all are.

I will always cherish having known Alan, his cheeky effervescence, sharp wit and wicked humor. I'm thankful for the kindess and affection he showed me, so readily. May he rest in blessed peace and be remembered fondly by all who loved him. My most profound condolences to the many friends and family he leaves behind.

I have very fond memories of Alan in San Diego, California. Taking a road trip with him and a couple of others to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon. We all slept in a car so we could watch the sunrise over the canyon. He always made us laugh, it was a wonderful time.
