I am so sad to hear, Alan was one of the Chubb colleagues who first made me feel welcome and helped me getting at ease, at a time in which everything was still new to me and communicating in English was a daily struggle. He was fun, kind and a great colleague. Sincere condolences to the family

I would like to share memories that I have about my uncle Alan.
Not having an older brother Alan had my full attention when I was young and impressionable, my earliest recollection was seeing Alan with Tommy Farrell in a swimming pool. I remember he was so cool because he was wearing a scuba mask, snorkel and flippers.
When I got a racing bike Alan took the time to show me how to dismantle it, strip it, repaint it and put it back together better than it was at the start.
When the big snow came and shut the country down for ages, Alan came up to us with his toboggan and brought us sledding at the top of Jobstown Hill, always there when there was fun to be had.
Of course I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that when he drove up to visit us he was in his yellow and black Opel Manta, a car I know he adored. “Only two with those colours” he said.
When I was older he would bring me up to Blessington lakes with the windsurf and kayak, we would take turns with each craft.
There have been many more fragments of memories that have flickered through my mind while penning these memories, tennis down in Castlegregory, farting after eating onions, pretending to be boyfriends at my sister’s wedding. Flying acrobatic kites in the Phoenix Park to distract us when my Papa passed.
Alan always took time in his life to spend time with me and for that I am eternally grateful.
Thanks for being such a positive role model in my life.
Love Ken
