Albert Carey

We've only just heard of Albert's passing. We knew him in the 1970s when he managed the band Velvet Trend, three young teenage girls and another band called the Wanderers. Albert got us lots of gigs so we spent a lot of time performing around Dublin including Old Folks Homes. We learned so much about performing, singing and playing guitar facilitated by his help. It was a lovely time. His brother John introduce us to Leonard Cohen's poetry and his music. All lovely memories to have. Our sympathy to all of his family. We remember Albert fondly and are very sorry to hear of his passing. Love Anne and Laura from Velvet Trend.

Sincere sympathies to all Albert's family.Met Albert while patient in Victor Synge ward. His genuine kindness to all patients his delight at their release from hospital I experienced while his own suffering he bore gracefully.May his gentle soul now Rest In Peace Amen.

My deepest condolences to Albert’s family. He was a gentleman and always had a smile even when he wasn’t feeling good. Dad spent weeks in the bed next to Albert and he kept dad’s spirits up with all their chats. Sadly we lost dad too last month but hopefully they are having a good oul catch up in heaven . So sorry to hear this. Worked with Albert for about 20 years in the CRO. A hard-working proud man who had so many friends. He never wanted to be treated differently because he was in a wheelchair, and he never was. A generous man in the pub who had a great sense of humour. We still talk fondly of him so many years later.
