On this Rorys months mind, 25th May 2025 I would like to express my sympathies to the family on your recent, sad loss. I was away when I heard the news. Mr O' Neil,Rory was a wonderful gardener, his passing at a time when his garden was in its full bloom, I thought poignant. His magnificent magnolia tree which we all admired and coveted! However Rory was most helpful and generous with his gardening tips. I thank him now for the many shrubs and trees I now have in my own garden. All with thanks to Rory's advice and gardening guidance Thank you Mr O Neil..one of Ballinrobes finest....sadly missed . Fondest memories. Sympathies to you Finn, Lorcan, Auveen, Fergal, Edel, Claire, Rory.

It was with great sorrow that we learned of Rorys death. He was our vet when we arrived in Ballinrobe in 1966 and remained so until his retirement. A gentle man who cared deeply for his patients and their owners. Kind and patient, confidence inspiring, his expertise was legendary. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Our deepest sympathy to Fin and family.

Dear friends of Daly family, since I can remember, and even after we left home, news of family members was shared by letter or post(as it was in olden days!)
Hope the sunshine, which Rory loved as a super gardener, keeps you all feeling warm and happy and not too sad, and embraces you with lovely memories of growing up in Ballinrobe.

So many great memories of time spent in Bowgate St as a student aand later coming back to work for him as a vet, and lovely lunches in Abbeyfield with Fin. Ballinrobe has lost one of its truly great figures. He was such a warm, discreet and caring man, with a great sense of making a positive contribution wherever he went. Mrs O'Neill and himself were a great partnership and I know she will miss him hugely, as will all all of the family, neighbours and friends. The Highly Active Retirement Association in Heaven will have to up its game now, Rory will be insisting that everything be done right and for the right reasons. May this lovely man rest in peace.

To the O'Neill Family,
Oh so sorry to hear this news. What a lovely, gentle, kind, and generous person he was. The O'Neills seemed to be at core of the community with an open door approach to hospitality, always gracious and full of fun. I will never forget the sheep living in the kitchen. Thank you for your kindness.

I first met Rory O Neill at the age of 3 years old when he attended a sick animal on our home farm. What struck me on that occasion was his empathy, husbandry and instinctive knowledge. He did not know it, but that encounter was the reason we became collegues later in life. I have wonderful memories of the many calls we did together during my training years.
He was a brilliant mentor and teacher. Always patient and full of devilish banter.
Rory, you were my Siegfried Farnon. RIP.
