In Loving Memory of My Grandad, Alfie
Today, we say goodbye to a truly special man—my grandad Alfie. He was my mum’s dad, and he passed away in his 94th year. Though he’s no longer with us, the love he gave and the memories he left behind will stay with me always.

Grandad Alfie was more than just family—he was part of my heart. He had a way of making you feel safe and loved, and I’ll never forget how he used to sing to me and our family. Those songs were more than just music—they were his way of showing love, and they’re some of the most precious memories I have.

He lived a life full of kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength. He had a gentle presence that made you feel at ease, and he gave so much to everyone who knew him.

Rest peacefully, Grandad Alfie. Thank you for your voice, your warmth, and your endless love. I miss you deeply and will carry you with me always❤️

Mildred, Lisa & Jonny, we are so saddened to hear of Alfie's passing and are thinking of you all at this difficult time. Whether it was watching the sunset of a Wexford summer evening or on the luas home on Christmas Eve, he would always provide words of wisdom, a sing song and perhaps a bit of divilment! The Kilgorman Bowling Club has lost it's most treasured member. One of life's greatest gentlemen, he will be truly missed. It has been an honour to have known him all our lives. Grandad, you were a beautiful, rich soul, so kind, so wise, so curious, blessed with a wonderful, powerful voice that nobody could deny. One of my most favourite, memorable memories of you is when you and my mum came to pick me up from primary school in 1st class, where you joined in on my class during a singing lesson, showing off your phenomenal pipes, everyone was silent and in awe of your confidence, power and the charming presence that you were. I’d had never been so proud to have you as my grandad in that moment and it’s always gone on and on. My latest memory of you which is something dear to me I will always have in my heart is your support and love that you showed me in March of this year when I last saw you. You gave me some amazing advice that will never forget and I’m really happy to have had that be our final time together no matter how much it hurts now that you’ve gone to heaven. I will never ever forget those memories and your extravagant stories and life experiences you shared. I will miss you so dearly. I feel a little more at ease knowing you’re up there with your eldest daughter; my mum André looking down on me and my siblings, the extended holt family and your great-grandchildren with smiles. You were a big shining light for all of us. Rest in peace grandad.

The last 25 years or so I have seen you now and then, since we became grandparents the visits have become more regular. You have always been thoughtful, kind and concerned about everyone around you. With a memory as sharp as a razor you always asked about my sons who you met years ago but still remembered. I know you ment a lot to your family and will be deeply missed, as you will by everyone that ever met you. Rest in peace Alfie.

His faith, his booming voice that filled Kilternan church, his gift for conversation and his gentle way of offering advice are things I'll always remember about him. Alfie Holt was a great and kind man and he is looking down at me and my family which is not surprising because he was so loving and caring. When I went to visit he always wanted the biggest hug and hold my hand tight. I will remember and love you always Grandad.

He was such a lovely man, always up for a conversation, unless he was watching a rugby match in the Anchor! We have so many happy memories of him in Kilgorman…seeing him go for his daily swims, epic games of bowls, evening drinks in the sunshine and the odd visit to his shed if anything had run out! Very much a young man at heart who could find something in common with any generation. His kind heart and infectious laugh will always be remembered.
