Alfred THORNTON

Lucinda and family, just heard today about Alfies untimely passing. We had great fun for a number of years on the Shannon including mid summer night ball in Dromineer. I still remember his sense of wit and fun! Never a dull moment!
So sorry for your loss, so sad to hear.

I sadly only learnt of Alfred's passing today - may he rest in peace. Alfred's taking of instructions was always so professional- he was an underated solicitor - he should have got massive kudos for the many tricky situations he negotiated for clients. He had a fine legal mind. I enjoyed meeting him socially and I greatly admire his fortitude. His interests in sailing and life saving were generous. To his family, I offer my heartfelt condolences.

Sincerest condolences to Alfie’s family. I was so sorry to hear of his untimely death.

I ran into Alfie 15 + years ago on the way back from a ski holiday. My friends and I nearly missed our flight, we were having such a lovely, fun chat. My friends still talk about that chance meeting. Alfie and his smile will not be forgotten, not even by people who met him only once.

May he rest in peace.

We were shocked and very sad to hear of the news of Alfred's sudden death. He was a wonderful friend to my late father (Noel White) who was extremely fond of Alfie and they had a lot of fun together. We will always remember the good humour, positivity and smile. We send our heartfelt condolences to Lucinda and all the family at this tragic untimely loss.

I was so sad to hear of Alfie’s passing. I watched him command many’s a meeting in Ivor’s and he could get around any obstacle with deft and his vast legal knowledge. I will always remember the kindness he showed me during my own loss when my mother passed away. This compassion has stuck with me and meant so much to me at the time. My deepest sympathies to his family and may he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Alfie’s passing.
We were in touch late September just before his operation and due to meet around now.
He was a great guy. Always so enthusiastic and encouraging. We did not meet that often but we really enjoyed ourselves when we did!

Alfred was an old friend of mine from the river Shannon where we all had such great times since Alfred was a perfectionist I struggled to keep by boat as clean as possible when traveling with him.My sympathy’s to Lucinda and his family . I trust Alfred has now found a safe harbour.

Alfred was a lovely gentleman.From his office on the 3rd floor in 34 College Green he was a regular visitor along the corridor to the porters and security canteen to fill his kettle and borrow milk from our fridge first thing in the morning.Always willing to have a good chat about football from the night before.Rest in peace Alfred you were one of life's good ones
